What's the point of rest time at school? My ds hates the 30 minute rest/nap time now that he's in school from 9-3, and it sounds like a lot of other kids don't like it. Why do schools bother with it? The kids don't nap and would rather be playing. It seems like the only purpose it serves is to give teachers a break and get some kids in trouble (eg my kid). [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

My DC had rest-time in public K, too. I think it's required until Jan. since there are still 4 yos in the class b/c of cutoffs. [ Reply | More ]

it's a quiet time. Some kids need a nap, need the break. My dd used it to write in her school journal, read a book, ect. [ Reply | More ]

Schools do not meet all kids' needs, period. That's one reason we're homeschooling... [ Reply | More ]

seriously? one of the reasons you're homeschooling is to avoid the pre-k and k 30 minute rest period? give me a break. [ Reply | More ]

I would rather my dc be in school and have to deal with the 30 minute rest time than end up sheltered and socially awkward with homeschooling. [ Reply | More ]
