It'd be better to have a separate group. Maybe if the class contact list comes out over the summer you could set up a group and email other incoming families, inviting them to join. [ Reply | More

np: I would wait until school starts. there will be plenty of eager beavers doing this sort of thing at that time. it is true that some schools have a yahoo group for the entire school, not just the class email list. ours does, and it is used for schoolwide announcements (yearbooks) and other things (dates of G&T testing). I imagine anderson has something like this. they seem pretty organized. [ Reply | More

These are, in general, not a good thing to do. They end up being bitching sessions for the more vocal parents and intimidate others into thinking they aren't on an equal field. The school has a very comprehensive interal community website (which you'll get passwords for in the fall) and an egroup for the lower school that will blast messages right into your inbox for ALL school news. A separate group usually just starts trouble and perpetuates the same type of rumors you'll see on UB. [ Reply | More
