I stopped at Georgia's to pick up a birthday cake for dh. For tiny cake (maybe 6 smallish slices), they asked $30. I was ready to pay, but I asked if they could write on it "Happy Birthday dh," and they said sure but they'd charge me $5 extra. I felt that was nuts, and didn't buy the cake. Am I incredibly cheap, or does this seem ridiculous? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Had they caught you on a different day. I get like this some times. They should just charge $35 for all cakes and kiss the customers ass instead of nickel and diming everyone. [ Reply | More

That's so true. If they had just charged $35, I would have paid. It was the extra that made me crazy. I ended up buying a supermarket cake, and they did the writing for free (it looks very pretty; we'll see how it tastes). [ Reply | More

did this the other day. ordered fried chicken from a great place and ordered the all-white meat whcih - I learned when i arrived - is breasts and wings. Anyone else ever heard of a white meat wing ? I passed just because I felt they were trying to "pull a fast one". [ Reply | More

They do have beautiful cakes but so expensive, and I've never heard anyone report whether they taste as good as they look. I think you did the right thing. Go across the street to Food Emporium. [ Reply | More

I live on 89th street and I never go into Georgia's b/c they are so expensive. And not always any better. A similar thing happened to me and I got a food emporium cake and it was yummy. [ Reply | More
