while we are on the topic of annoying things - how annoyed would you be about this? IL's built a mountain house. All the kids (My DH is one) get a room. We were told "it's your room. Decorate it how you like" But every time I mention something MIL says "Oh no. We don't want to do that". Annoying a little or a lot? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

yeah - that sounds reasonable - but she has way more $$ than we do and would pick out things I could not afford. We haev very dif tastes too. I am seriously thinking of just letting her do the room for us. I don't really care that much. She likes things to be just so and I just want a comfortable house to relax in. They bought new furniture and all I heard all weekend was "no eating on the sofa" "no kids on the chair with shoes on". Sheesh. How can I relax when I can't even sit down? [ Reply | More

Then either go where you can afford the stuff. BB&B or Target vs Macys/Bloomies or get her to think she's doing you a huge favor, being the hero, saving the day to let her do it herself. Make sure she thinks it's all her idea though. [ Reply | More

now that is good advice. I feel like just saying "just do it your own damn self" and storming out. Not very grown up eh? LOL! I think I will just have a few family pictures framed and let her do what she wants with the rest of it. There had better not be any Thomas Kincaid pictures on the wall though!
