Crying it out: at what age would you start letting baby CIO? Baby is almost 4 months. At night she falls asleep nursing but daytime when I try to get her to nap I have to rock her and sing to her and put her down when she is asleep if she is awake or wakes she cries, do not want to create a habit i won't be able to change, just nervous for the whole CIO thing. Advice please!! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

With DS we waited until 9 months, but he was a preemie. DD we did CIO at 5 months. It took two nights and we were done. [ Reply | More ]

i noted the times he woke up during the night and set my clock for 1 hour earlier. i did dream feeds with the maximum he drinks at night and took away 2 oz every night until he wasn't getting anything. he doesn't equate crying with feeding because i am waking him up to feed. after 4 nights of this he has never woken in the night again and there was minimal crying. does this make sense to you? it's hard to convey on the page. we did it around 4.5 months for nighttime (took 10 minutes 2 nights in a row) naps were harder. started around 6 months. took much more crying than nights (maybe 30 minutes) and more days, but at 8 mo, ds is pretty good sleeper, though his naps are still a little short sometimes [ Reply | More ]
