Anyone else concerned with how much Saturated fat is in whole milk? I'm not the type to worry about how much fat my 13mo is having--she runs around like a banshee--but I am concerned about how much unhealthy saturated fat she is having. One cup (8oz.) has 25%. That would have her downing 100% of the recommended sat. fat everyday. Can I cut back to 2 or 1%? Or do half whole half 1%? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

whole milk until 2 - it is for her very different dietary needs [ Reply | More ]

Not at all. I am more worried about the crap that they put in lowered fat milk. We all drink and eat whole fat dairy products in my house and are rather healthy. [ Reply | More ]

I realize she has different needs, but this is the same saturated fat that clogs arteries, right? I wouldn't think it mattered if you had it when you were a toddler or an adult. [ Reply | More ]

if you realize she requires different nutrition doesn't it follow that the repercussions for sat. fat are not the same for a baby as they are for an adult? [ Reply | More ]

Okay, I was just concerned. I don't mind healthy fat (olive oil, nuts, avocados, fat in eggs, etc.) but just looking at the label on the whole milk threw me a bit. Thanks [ Reply | More ]

Thanks everyone. I did a little Google research. Our low-fat culture is a bit out of whack! Interesting. http://www.westonaprice.org/children/babybooks.html [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. I feel like I'm a very health conscience, well versed woman, but obviously not as much as I thought! I'll check it out. [ Reply | More ]
