do you believe in karma in the sense that your good and bad actions come back to you? or do you think there is no justice? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

so you think, for example, if someone fires you b/c she wants to give your job to a friend, that there will be no comeuppance? you're just screwed? that person will never have consequences for being an a**hole? b/c to me, there has to be some sort of final sorting b/c it's like a pacifier--i need that security! i need to know that mean people will somehow get it in the end. np: There may be, but more likely than not there won't be any. Good people get screwed and bad people get what they want every day of the week. Some bad people get screwed too eventually but others never do. [ Reply | More ]

I think there is a reason why things happen the way they happen, but I can't articulate why [ Reply | More ]

Kind of believe in karma. Perhaps it is only that generally speaking higher moral standards in practical application make for a happier life. [ Reply | More ]

i do believe in karma, but here's the catch: we may not be able to see the way that our actions come back around. it's not instantaneous and clear-cut. so when somebody does something totally shitty, i know it will come back to them, but i might not ever know how. (and neither will they, if they're not paying attention.) [ Reply | More ]

i do believe what goes around comes around. but agree with above that sometimes we dont witness it coming around and that people dont realize its come around. I do realize when I have done something wrong when it has come around. [ Reply | More ]

I think that our good deeds are repaid by those around us who recognize our goodness. I think shitty people are not afforded those same kindnesses as often. I don't think this is about some cosmic force. I think it is about people recognizing and rewarding the positive in each other. [ Reply | More ]

It does come back to you. I believe that without a doubt. I like the phrase "The laws of karma continue to operate whether you believe in them or not." [ Reply | More ]

nope not at all. I have watched too many really good people to get hit with bad stuff to believe that. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think it's all about 'bad stuff happening to good people' - bad stuff happens to everyone, and it's all in how we deal with it. [ Reply | More ]

I think of it more like, when someone is an a-hole to me, or a jerk in general, most likely they are an unhappy person - perhaps with a not-so-good or maybe even non-existent family life. That person most likely isn't going home every night really happy and satisfied with themselves. And I also try to remember that I am generally happy, have great friends, and a loving family. Now, of course that doesn't always work, and there's nothing like getting to witness karma in action, but it's worth a try to think about it. [ Reply | More ]
