Is it true Dalton only look at ERB scored 99? Just received our DC's score today - 97. Is this good enough to apply Dalton and other TT? I am new to UB and whole private process. Thanks. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Not good enough for Dalton, or even a single T school. Better look into publics. [ Reply | More ]

this is nonsense. there is little difference between a 97 and most 99s [ Reply | More ]

LOL. She's kidding. But score-wise (out of 152), there's a huge difference between 97 and 99. [ Reply | More ]

In practicality there is little difference. [ Reply | More ]

np. It depends. The difference is about 1 standard deviation between a 97% and a "low" 99. I would agree the practical difference there isn't so big. But between a 97 and a "high" 99 the practical difference can be huge. [ Reply | More ]

Not when you take into account that they are four when they take the test. [ Reply | More ]

np; but the thing is there are hundreds of 4yo's who manage to get 99 and 98. Schools want the sure thing. [ Reply | More ]

And that is not a sure thing, which is why they all do their own IQ tests, have school reports, go on school visits [ Reply | More ]

Sure. Given 2 dc's have same eval from school's visit, PSD report, etc., the one with a higher erb might edge out if same gender and offering same diversity/or no diversity (parents' occupation or what have you) [ Reply | More ]

I know several 99 kids who got into Dalton but that is not to say 97 kids can't get in. Of course they can. But low 90's will be tough, even for sibs. [ Reply | More ]

Right, as always 95+ puts you in the category of strong contender, what matters then is school report, visit & parents. However, some kids with lower scores do get in. [ Reply | More ]

I'm sure there are exceptions in every school. Some kids who got 99 on SB submit that as well. Or maybe super duper connected. Or have a new gym to donate. [ Reply | More ]

I think sibs can have a little lower but not 93. They have relatively weak sib polic, too. However, I'd think they make exceptions for kids who ace SB (who submit it) and from their own eval, found the kids to be very smart. [ Reply | More ]
