interesting. I would have thought that perhaps with the Internet, they would offer more classes online. Is your hometown (if it was a town!) now more or less populated than it was when you were a kid? [ Reply | More

Very few homes have internet. Even now. I remember when phone service wasn't available (we used radios) and cell phones are still pretty useless. It's not like NYC where the infrastructure is in place. The town was about 1500 people when I lived there. I think it is about the same now. [ Reply | More

I grew up in Alaska. The nearest school was quite far, and there aren't roads between the towns. So you took an air taxi to school. The teachers did the same. [ Reply | More

Yes. It wasn't quite like school buses. But there was a large field behind the school (one building for K-12) where the planes would take off and land. Pilots made a nice living taking people to work and school in the AM, doing deliveries during the day, then taking people home in the afternoon. [ Reply | More
