Dh and i are having issues over ds behavior. When we go to dinner, ds will throw food, fet out of his seat, scream and i try to teach him manners and my dh says that he is only 2 and a half and it's normal. I can't stand going to dinner anymore. Any advice? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

dh needs to grow up. Either you discipline ds at restaurant or he stays home, it's not fair to everyone else in the restaurant. [ Reply | More ]

Taking a 2 and a half year old ds to dinner is not a good time. Eat as a family at home and get a sitter when you want to go out. [ Reply | More ]

tough one but I wouldn't put up w/ that in public and no, not at dc's are like that. some parents are very strict and it shows in how their dc's behave BUT it's also personality so don't beat yourself up about it. I would stop going to eat for a while, only eat at very quick places and/or go super early to dinner [ Reply | More ]

NP. I am strict and consistent, but my ds was very difficult to manage in restaurants at that age. It took too much energy on my part to keep his behavior in check because he was very active and curious. I think that's completely normal. I found it difficult to enjoy dinner because I had to focus on him the whole time. It was better by the time he was 3 and not an issue by the time he was 4. [ Reply | More ]
