expecting db #1 any day now. my mil is calling every other day to check on me, which is fine, but she keeps asking if my milk has come in yet. i told her that doesn't happen before birth but she still asks! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

that's so weird. I hate when my mil asks about things she knows nothing about. [ Reply | More ]

just say that. If you don't, the conversations are going to get a lot worse when the baby comes and the milk does come in. [ Reply | More ]

She's just excited and trying to connect. Give her all the details you are comfortable sharing and let her be excited. [ Reply | More ]

that's good advice. but how do i respond to "do you feel any movement in your milk sacks yet?" i just said no and tried to change the subject. [ Reply | More ]

Sounds like you handled it well. Talk about the baby moving around and all the nursery preparations you are making. Can you give her a job? Like buying sheets or something? [ Reply | More ]

she doesn't live near me so there's nothing for her to "do" at the moment. i think she is just trying to connect, i just have a hard time talking with her about my boobs. [ Reply | More ]

She can shop online! Can she find the best price on diapers and have them shipped to you? [ Reply | More ]

I don't agree. It sounds like she's not setting any boundaries. It is fine if she doesn't want to talk about breast feeding, but she should just say it. She doesn't have to be mean or anything, but ignoring it if it is already a problem is just asking for many more issues when she's actually breast feeding. The mil probably doesn't have a clue that it upsets her this much. [ Reply | More ]

just be glad she's not trying to convince you NOT to bf and that formula is better for the baby, like my idiot MIL. [ Reply | More ]

fair enough! she's definitely supportive, and i'm glad for that, just a bit intrusive. [ Reply | More ]

I get on really well with my MIL and we are close but she would never ask about my breasts! Is your MIL like this with other things? [ Reply | More ]

she is endearingly honest but often ventures into "too much information" territory. i can't be too angry at her, i just don't want to hurt her feelings when i say that i don't want to discuss certain things. [ Reply | More ]

That's tricky. I think I'd laugh it off without answering her questions or get dh to tell her to ease up a bit on the inappropriate comments. [ Reply | More ]
