I have two sons. The younger one came down with coxsackie on Thursday and the older one had diarrhea on Friday and a couple of blisters on Saturday am. Older one seems fine now and the doctor said it is usually contagious 2 days before and 2 days after blisters. He starts a week long camp tomorrow. I think I should keep him home atleast monday, right? The doctors office said that because of the nature of coxsackie they do NOT suggest keeping them away from other kids, which I thought was really odd. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Hmmm... maybe keep home Monday. My 19 mo dd had it last week, but we didn't know until Thursday (Dr. said had red blisters instead of white, so no longer contagious)- she was ill since the Friday before... I would play it safe though. She is still not perfect, had still some Diarrhea on Friday. DH and I have been sick too - SUCH a fun holiday! [ Reply | More ]

I don't know - if your Dr said they don't recommend keeping him away and he feels fine then I'd send him. It won't hurt him to stay home but if the camp is only five days then he will miss 20% of it even though your doc said it was fine for him to go. [ Reply | More ]

I thought once they had the blisters they weren't contagious any more? Read up on it at www.mayoclinic.com. [ Reply | More ]
