That would be great. Looking for some early reader series books. On the same level as Cynthia Rylant's stuff, but other authors. He's read all of the Henry & Mudge, Mr. Putter & Tabby, and Poppleton books. Tried The Lighthouse Family series but it's still a bit too advanced for him. TIA. [ Reply | More ]

Not BM here, but I would go to the closest library, plop on the floor by the early reading section and go through books with your child. I believe you can check out up to 30 children's books in the NYPL system. James Marshall's books may appeal: Three by the Sea and Four on the Shore are two of his many titles. [ Reply | More ]

^^^ I just looked at a Lighthouse book. This is not an early reader. Don't think because an author writes some early readers that all their books are for beginning readers. Ursula Leguin's Catwings books may work as early chapter books for a young reader. [ Reply | More ]

^^^ You might also look at Esther Averill cat books also. You can look inside many of these books at Amazon--get your child's opinion on the difficulty. [ Reply | More ]
