I'm the exact reverse: left Catholicism after having been raised in a devout household because I believe almost nothing that it teaches. [ Reply | More ]

So far, agnostic. They're 3 and 1. We did not baptize. [ Reply | More ]

As a non-Catholic I think that there is a lot of comfort in a lot of the teachings, but then there's a lot of other things too. Are your parents upset with your choice ? DH ? [ Reply | More ]

DH isn't religious so it wasn't an issue for him. He was willing to baptize if I wanted to, but I really didn't want to. My parents have also grown somewhat dissatisfied with the Church so they sort of understand, but wish we had baptized. I would like the kids' to have some sort of faith, but I'm not sure which one. Unitarianism and Quakerism appeal to me. [ Reply | More ]

Great friend grew up Quaker and I went to her father's funeral. I was blown away by the honesty of it. [ Reply | More ]

np: I'm a Unitarian, and it's a good place. You can start by going to a couple of services. Congregations' styles vary a LOT; some are traditionally churchy in the service organization (hymn, reading, sermon), others are much looser and more like organized discussion groups. [ Reply | More ]
