Name Poll: Clara or Hazel? Last name begins with K sound. My husband and I like unusual names (middle name will be a bit unusual). Is Hazel too retro trendy, is Clara too popular now? Thanks. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

np. What's the point of responses like these? Someone peed in your cornflakes this morning and you feel compelled to spread the nasty around? [ Reply | More ]

I like them both but would go with Hazel. I don't like alliterative names, so Clara K_______ would be out for me. [ Reply | More ]

I love both names. I have know of a few Claras born recently, but don't know about Hazel. I think you can't go wrong with either. Wait until dd is born and see if she is a Clara or Hazel. [ Reply | More ]

I wanted to name DC Hazel but DH said it reminded him too much of the housekeeper and then others started agreeing with him. Maybe it's a generational thing. [ Reply | More ]

OP: Thanks for the thoughts. Clara is a family name and Hazel is one I liked for a long time. Also, Charlotte (another family name), but that seems to be getting very popular now. We considered Daphne and Celia, but we're not as passionate about them. [ Reply | More ]

FWIW, my DD's name is Cecelia and everyone seems to love it. I don't hear the name a lot, but I do hear the song. I don't like alliterative names, so I would go with Hazel. It's a little retro-trendy, but not greatly so. If you love the name, run with it. [ Reply | More ]
