Lost my job and had medical issues in November. Took a new job in May but the Co couldn't make payroll. Have kept our Nanny on full time. DD is in camp now and still naps so that is 6 hours a day our nanny does NOTHING. (She is a nice woman, good with dd, on time... but she can't cook/doesn't do light housekeeping very well and additionally her pm hours are not flexible) While I understand it is my fault that I have not given her direction (honestly there is nothing I can think of to tell her to do except clean up the crafts drawer but I know from experience that if she can't see its a mess, she isn't going to properly organize it) She takes no real initiative. She's getting 6 hours off in 9 hour day! This really makes me feel like I am being stolen from. My medical problems have abated, and I can can take better care of DD. Should I let her go and look for someone in the fall when dd will be in school everyday, I will have a better idea what my work prospect are and we can find someone more flexible to our schedule? i would stop thinking of it as stealing and start thiking of it as your needs changing. its reasonable to look for soemone with more felxibility once your child starts school (or camp every day). [ Reply | More ]

totally understandable. she is a good employee for someone but she doesn't fit what your family needs now. you can always help with a new job if you want. [ Reply | More ]
