new mom here- city moms, at what age did you take your newborn out? in nyc, everything is so close to home that i can't see the harm in taking dd (3 wks) down the street to a cafe or something, but then again, baby would be around tons of people then too. don't know if i'm being overprotective to wait until 6 wks- or is that still the norm? We went out to lunch on the way back from our 2 week ped visit--sat at an outdoor cafe. You want to avoid crowded indoor spaces, but outdoor is fine (stay out of the sun, obviously). Have fun! [ Reply | More ]

i took him out after about a week - and it was november. mostly just for walks and obviously he was all bundled. you have to get out! sitting outside is FINE. youre lucky you had db in the warm weather. have fun [ Reply | More ]

i think if the baby is basically healthy (no immunity problems that you know of) you can go wherever you want. no reason to stay inside all the time. but i also understand it can feel overwhelming to get everything together to leave the house. do it anyway! you need to get out. [ Reply | More ]
