need help w/logistics. I have a 5 yr old and expecting a newborn at the end of the summer. my work hours are very flexible and at the beginning i only really have to be away from home about 10-15 hrs a week. older DC starting K in september. when am i going to want a sitter? i have a couple PT people, but i'm finding it difficult to predict how many hrs i'll want and when. i have to line something up soon, but would love feedback from BTDT. Thanks! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

IME neewborns often have a long mornign nap. so maybe have the sitter come then and you work then. alternatively, you might want help in the afternoon/evening, not jsut for work but b/c the witching hour is hard to handle alone, if the dad isn't reliably home then. [ Reply | More ]

totally have someone there for when you need to pick up older dc. ime, as my db got older, the db's naptime always gets shortened for older dc's pick up. you can either get someone to do p/u or watch db to do p/u yourself [ Reply | More ]

something I would think about is whether you'll be breastfeeding and how long, at a time, you want to be away from db. You could split up the 15 hours to be away for 3 hours every day or 5 hours, 3 days a week. [ Reply | More ]
