Bathroom renovation:anyone here build a ledge to hold a vessel sink? What are the pros/cons? Have a tight rectangular small bathroom and wondering if this is a good option (because it'll give some counter space) instead of a pedestal or wall-mounted vanity. Tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Just make sure they build it low enough to accommodate the height of the vessel - I find most vessel sinks are too high, very awkward to wash face, etc. [ Reply | More ]

op:oh, good point! Looking at a rectangular sink that could be wall-mounted. But thinking that maybe getting a few inches of countertop space may be a good idea (or not - hoping someone who has btdt can help!) Thanks [ Reply | More ]

My brother did this so that they could do a double sink (space wasn't wide enough for standard double vanity). It looks great, but I find the sinks awkward to use (especially since they have those faucets where the water kind of slides out horizontally). [ Reply | More ]

op:thanks. I stayed at a hotel once that had those bowl vessel sinks and found them awkward to use too. Is that what your brother has? The one I have in mind for us is 4" deep and I'm hoping it'll not be awkward at all! Not sure I u/stand about the faucet, sorry. [ Reply | More ]
