In response to a direct question, Four Star General Wesley Clark says, "I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be President." (This was after praising McCain's service and behavior in Viet Nam several times. Clark said nothing but good things about McCain the veteran.) McCain can't accept this so who does he bring on board to refute Clark? Bud Day... The guy behind the swift boat attacks (and the 527s) which went after John Kerry. I thought McCain was going to stay above this kind of bull shit. I'm really disappointed. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I would have preferred Biden or Dodd. I lean left of center when everything is added up but I have voted both sides. I like McCain. I disagree with him on several issues but I thought he was a good guy. I was rooting for him in 2000 and thought what Karl Rove and GWB did to him in South Carolina was disgusting. I also thought his standing up for John Kerry was a class act. This is why his embracing Day is so disappointing. Granted, he and Day have some long history and some strong ties, but this was not personal, it was calculated and cynical. And that is what is so disappointing. -op [ Reply | More
