My DH is very quick on the trigger to the ER - bug bite, sore throat he's all for the hospital. Now I show him the $100 co-pay and he is a bit more thoughtful. [ Reply | More ]

You're right. Tell him if he wants to do something he can go to the drugstore and buy some acetaminophen suppositories. [ Reply | More ]

you're right although i usually call ped to appease dh or my mother. water is hard to keep down when you have a stomach bug. i usually give something with sugar - say tea (peppermint tea has no caffeine) or gatorade or apple juicce - and i give tiny sips every 5-10 minutes. it's a slow process but it works best. You can try to bring down the fever with a bath [ Reply | More ]

If he wants to call to obtain advice (and peace of mind for himself), let him. There's no charge to talk to a nurse. [ Reply | More ]

I know what OP means, but I just phone the Dr. when DH asks me to even if I know they won't have any advice. It's nice that he cares about your kids, and it takes 5 minutes. [ Reply | More ]

put dd into a cool bath and keep trying plain water for about 6 hours. If she's still not able to keep it down, call ped - with the holiday weekend coming you don't want to risk her getting v dehydrated [ Reply | More ]

as long as your dd isn't dehydrated (going to the bathroom, skin is ok) then the PED can't do anything. Tell dh that you love that he's concerned but he has to trust you on this one [ Reply | More ]
