Moms who have already send a dc to kindergarten, what do I need to get. Any suggestions where to get a backpack and lunch bag? Anything else I am not thinking of for ds. thx. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

We got a list from the teacher, so I would wait for that. But, yes you need a backpack, lunchbox - those are easy - Kmart, Target, online. We had to get a plastic folder with two pockets (Staples) but teacher was VERY specific about which one - so I would just wait until you get the list. [ Reply | More

If you have not already gotten the backpack -- don't get one with a cute character (like Elmo.) It is ok until about January. By then the cute characters are over and ds has moved on... If you can find a backpack with a strap between the shoulder straps, the kids I saw with them looked much more comfortable with their bags. (I think LL Bean had some nice ones. Junior size backpack from Lands' End - I prefer theirs to LL Bean's. The LE lunchboxes are also good. Mini thermos from thermos.com if your dc likes hot lunch foods. Sharpie markers and ID labels to put dc's name on all his stuff. Any other supplies I would wait and see what dc;s teacher requests. [ Reply | More
