I think they often put a thin tube down the nose to the throat with a scope that can see. They spray something in the nose that numbs it first. I don't know if this will be the case with your dc. We took an infant (a few months old) who had that done to check for reflux. Later, we took our 6 yr old and warned him that this might happen. I told him that if it did, he could pick any present and he'd get it, but only if he had to do that procedure. He picked something he really wanted. When dr. said he should have this, my ds was so excited that dr. thought he was nuts because clearly most kids hate to have this done. I think it's pretty uncomfortable, but just for a minute or two -- no lasting effects. [ Reply | More ]
