Nitrous oxide during labor... anyone tried it? It seems to be difficult to get in the US, but it's commonly (and safely) used during labor in British Columbia and the UK. I've heard it's a more mild alternative to an epidural, it doesn't harm the baby, and you can self-administer. Why isn't this available to more women in the US? The studies I've read have shown that it provides moderately effective pain relief, which is really all I'm looking for. I don't want to bash the pain in the head with a bowling pin, I'd rather just kick it around a little. So why can I get N20 at the dentist and not while giving birth? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]
