Help me u/stand my blood test results pls:TSH is 2.045 and range is 0.350-5.500. Note on the sheet reads:"Adult TSH concentrations below 5.5uIU/mL do not rule out presence of subclinical hypothyroidism." So what does that mean? Is all well and normal and is that a standard note on these reports? Anyone know? Tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Means you could have atypical hypothyrodism. Call your doc. [ Reply | More ]

that is likely a standard phrase that is included on all TSH test results, and is probably not specific to you. Whether the is any other indication of thyroid abnormalities or need to to investigate further would need to be decided by your doctor. [ Reply | More ]

Just wondering why you got the test in the first place? Was it just a general check up for your pregnancy? Are you having thyroid symptoms?? Fatigue, unusual weight gain, etc?? I have more experience with hypothyroid than I would ever like to. Thyroid problems are horrible!!! As far as the TSH, it really should be less than 2.5 even though the norm for that lab says 5.5 It was recently changed for the norm to be less than 3.5. That labs numbers are outdated. I would say if you aren't having symptoms, your TSH is fine. That note is a "standard note" to cover their a**. :) [ Reply | More ]
