CVS sounds like a better bet all around, combined with the nuchal. Done much earlier. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, but it's done at 10 weeks. A lot easier to have to think about terminating at 10 weeks than after you've felt the baby move. [ Reply | More ]

i've heard that with an experienced practitioner, the risk is not really higher [ Reply | More ]

I did, only because we had a bad 20-week ultrasound (for #1). For #2, I did CVS - getting an amnio at 21 weeks and no results until nearly 23 weeks was one of the most distressing times of my life. [ Reply | More ]

yes, but actually i opted for cvs. the reason for that is i worked for years with disabled kids, and dh has a brother with autism. i know what that's like, and i was more scared of a disabled child than a miscarriage. [ Reply | More ]

yes because the quad screen came back with an elevated risk for downs. The amnio was not as bad as I thought, but the 2 week wait was horrible. The dr I had does hundreds of amnios a year so the procedure was very quick and minimal pain. The risk for miscarriage is a lot lower if you have an experienced dr. [ Reply | More ]
