#1 - mastitis hit five days pp, in both boobs, which turned into abscess, so had to have surgery. #2 - I decided I would only pump to avoid mastitis, but it still came 2.5 wks pp, and had to be aspirated. My boobs are hopeless milkers! Thank God for formula! [ Reply | More

I didn't mind not being able to breastfeed - was happy enough to have a good excuse for getting out of it, but I did want to try it. Yes, mastitis is terrible. BF'ing friends told me that engorgement is painful so I put it down to that and reckoned I was just being a wuss about it, so I let it go for too long before calling my Dr. My husband had to call her at 4am as I lay in bed with a temp of 104.9°. My friend's dc was born with a tongue tie and couldn't latch. She was totally set on bf and was very upset to begin with. By the time she had dc #2 she decided not to even bother trying to bf as she found ff convenient. [ Reply | More

Me. Twice. could not produce enough milk. did everything known to womankind to increase supply making myself miserable and sleepless. Had to supplement immediately. Gave up entirely after 6 mos with #1 and 4 mos with number two. There is no shame in using formula. Your baby will be fine. You need to get your rest and be sane to help baby [ Reply | More

I didn't produce enough, used everything to increase supply (including domperidone), also had yeast and blocked ducts. Started supplementing at 2 months and continued with a combo till ds was almost 9 months (at the end I was BF just once a day). [ Reply | More
