I hate having to look for a new nanny. This will be the third in 8 months. Sigh. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

The first one just wasn't a good fit -- too much drama in her life, she was having people over during the day without telling us, doing 3 loads of her own laundry at a time, etc. Second one lasted a week -- caught her giving medicine to my toddler without telling me, then she lied when I confronted her. She seemed great, had great references, etc. [ Reply | More ]

my nanny has permission to give my db tylenol or motrin during the day if he needs it. What's the big deal? [ Reply | More ]

her nanny gave medication and said she had not given medication. That's different and that's potentially dangerous. [ Reply | More ]

OP: Nanny had only been here a week and I did not give her permission. Nothing was wrong with db and I don't see why anyone would want their nanny giving meds to db without letting the parent know. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know why you think older is better, both of my nannies have been young (first lasted 6 years until she had her own db, second a year and counting) and they are fabulous. I very much prefer it. [ Reply | More ]

Mine are young as well. I was simply stating that if she has had a recurring problem with what her needs are, maybe she should change it up and give something different a try. Younger nannies work for me, but some people prefer older women. I don't know... [ Reply | More ]

First nanny was late 40s, this one was mid-30s. Both had kids of their own, which we thought would be helpful. The demeanor of the 2 nannies was very different. We really thought we'd hit the jackpot with the second nanny. She seemed fabulous. [ Reply | More ]

np: If we are talking about tylenol I really don't see this as big deal as this is toddler not newborn but I can see OP freaking out if she told the nanny to always consult before doing anything. [ Reply | More ]

Her post yesterday says that she saw her give DB something on the nanny cam and the nanny denied it. When presented with the "smoking gun", nanny confessed. [ Reply | More ]

we were in your situation a few months ago. Our nanny of 5 years left when she had her second child to stay home with her kids. Finding a great replacement for her was a nightmare. First one lasted until I got a nanny cam (I had the feeling she was just telling me what I wanted to hear, not what was really going on and the kids weren't bonding with her at all -- fired her the day after the camera) and second one lasted 4 months. But now, we have the perfect nanny for our family. From the day she started, it was like a huge load was lifted off my back. The kids both loved her from day one, and every mom friend of mine that has meet her and all of my older child's moms who have dropped their kids off with her (6 years old, so all drop off playdates) have RAVED about her unsolicited. My long winded point is -- great ones are out there. Just keep looking until you find her. [ Reply | More ]
