I think we may have a good shot at getting into a good private school downtown (connection), but we live on the UWS. Is that too much of a commute for a kindergarten-age dc? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

People commute from all over the city to the different private schools. The kids get used to it. [ Reply | More ]

If you love the school then it will be worth the commute. [ Reply | More ]

We travel from downtown to Brooklyn Heights for school. I like it. My DC and I chat about the upcoming day. Funnily enough, this year DC is doing camp in the neighborhood, and I miss the travel time together. [ Reply | More ]

ok, I'll be the naysayer here -- we currently commute for K and my dd hates it. Next year, after we see if younger child gets into the same school, we will probably move closer to school. She hates having to get up early, she hates the travel home in the afternoon, she hates that friends live far away. We love the school and she loves the school, but she hates the commuting factor. Op: yeah, and my ds is not a morning person, so it will be tough enough getting him up for school, not to mention allowing enough time for the commute. Maybe we'll apply and consider moving if we get in. We'll only renting now, so it would be relatively to move. [ Reply | More ]

How long is her bus commute? We're looking at a long bus commute in Sept for K, and wondering how dd will handle it. [ Reply | More ]

Is this another difference between private and public school parents? If you ask UB if you would commute across town to bring your kid to public K you will get flamed left and right. [ Reply | More ]
