I'm on bedrest for two months and need to find a nanny for 3.5 y/o and 9 m/o during this time. I'm concerned that I woon't be able to find someone for such a short time or that if I do find someone they may leave before they two months is out if they find a permanent job. Any thoughts? We found our amazing babysitters on Craigslist. We were very specific about what we were looking for. We got lots of replies, some from crazies, but we whittled it down and met the people, checked their references, and it has all worked out so well. [ Reply | More

Ours are ongoing but irregular. We said on our ad we were looking for someone we could call on an ad-hoc basis and could not offer regular stints, so there were no demands for minimum hours etc. We said we pay $12 per hour. It's anonymous so why don't you just draft an ad saying exactly what you want, for how long, for how much, and see what comes back? Good luck. [ Reply | More

The same happened to my friend and she found someone through an emergency childcare service which is based in brooklyn but also does manhattan. they have a group of babysitters who you can hire for a few days/weeks/months and my friend was very pleased with how it all worked out. try to look it up on google, if you can't find it, let me know and i'll ask my friend. i'll watch the post.
