UGH - dd's 8th bday party is tomorrow. It's at the movie theatre and we're going to see the American Girl movie on opening day (not in NYC.) I can not get over the number of mothers that want to come along and bring their younger kids. They all claim they'll pay their way but it makes it so complicated since they want me to get tix so they can sit with us. I tried very politely suggesting that if they just drop their dds off. Then, I decided it wasn't worth the drama and I would pay for everyone. But I just got a call saying that a mom needs to bring her 13 y.o. son. She only needs to bring him b/c the mom WANTS to come - I didnt' ask her to. Is it me or is this rude? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Very rude, I'd say no. They can buy their own tickets and be in the theater, I don't think the 13 yo wants to sit next to a bunch of 8 yos anyway. [ Reply | More

i honestly don't know what to say to this mom. i told her she could come along. she asked, i didn't. now she's saying she'll have to bring her son since he has no where else to go. i told her not to worry about - i have plenty of help and she can just drop off her dd. she said "no, no, no - i'll come." i don't want to be rude. but i think i either have to say "your son is not invited" or suck it up and know he will be there. they are all so rude. I can't STAND when ppl invite their other kids. They say they will pay but put you on the spot. I don't like it. I never do that. So sorry that such a nice outing is turning into a huge PITA for you [ Reply | More
