Ouch! You can call or email a La Leche League leader near you for advice on what to do (you don't have to know that person already; a friend is a LLL leader and takes queries from strangers all the time). Good luck! It will pass. [ Reply | More ]

Luckily, she is still nursing and I am also pumping. I am sure this started b/c of improper latch on in the first day or two. She cut me and I got infected. Such a bummer! I will look up the LLL number. [ Reply | More ]

I have had mastitis twice and it really makes you feel terrible (sickness and shakes). The first time I needed antibiotics but the second time I was able to sort it myself with lots of soaks in hot baths and expressing. I hope you feel better soon. [ Reply | More ]

Warm compresses and massage or even better massage in a hot shower. The more you nurse and pump the better. If it's just a clog you may be able to work it out before it's mastitis. If you already have a fever and your breast is streaked red and feels hot you're going to need abx. [ Reply | More ]
