How old was your child when they learned to tie shoes. Any helpful hints for teaching this skill? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

np: that's a great idea - we have same problem, starting in kind, where we were told that the teacher did not have time to fix laces so don't send kids in with laces until they can reliably tie them. good luck with that if they are wearing velcro most of the time! [ Reply | More

yes but you don't want them to be the last kid not to know how to do that in second or even third grade. And they need the opportunity to learn it. [ Reply | More

no, she would only wear velcro. I didn't push because it became such an emotional issue. Turned out, she had working memory problems. fwiw she can now tie her shoes and does very well in school. it's just developmental, I guess. [ Reply | More
