If Dh gets job that he's interviewing for tomorrow, we might move to Boston without me having a job first because I don't want to throw 11mo into just any daycare. Is this a hugely stupid move? We really miss Boston. Are renting now & likely will still rent for at least another year. I really want to find something PT because I feel I never see my DD. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I don't think it's stupid at all. We are thinking of moving back there as well--renting will be much cheaper than in NYC, you will save money there. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. Right now I make more $ than DH (but only a measly 4K more) and then I'd be down to zero for awhile until I can get in the groove of freelance tutoring/editing or do PT. I was thinking it was worth it because we pay a ton in gas right now (in CT) and our gas bill to drive everywhere keeps changing. He & I are really nervous though. I canceled my interview last week because I didn't want to stick her in daycare without enough investigation. Scary making life decisions while being parents. [ Reply | More ]

You can find a p/t job in Boston, I'm sure. We are also in a similar boat- dh is waiting to hear about a job in Newburyport & if he gets it we will move (and I will do a p/t gig). [ Reply | More ]

Good luck to the 2 of you. I am glad to hear your optimistic remarks. I've never worked part-time but I have been able to get my past jobs @ good places. Will you live very close to Newburyport? Are you pregnant or do you have dc? [ Reply | More ]

I have a 2 1/2 yo- I work p/t now & she goes to a wonderful daycare, so finding a new one is a worry to me too. Plus she has all her buddies there. If he gets it, we will move to Newburyport- pretty close to Boston. I would probably end up working in Boston in the long run. [ Reply | More ]
