We've hear people with HHI of $350K complaining of not being able to send kids to private school. We have HHI of $250K, can it be done? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

When people say they can't afford something, they mean they can't afford it given the other expenses they won't change and their standards for savings. If your expenses are different, you are more willing to change your spending, or have different savings requirements, you could easily afford private school. [ Reply | More ]

We send one on less than that, but our other expenses are relatively low. Tuition, if factored monthly, is our single largest expense. [ Reply | More ]

same - our mortgage/maintenance are slightly lower than our tuition payments - but we bought our place 10 years ago, put in a huge down payment and live in a no-doorman building. [ Reply | More ]

HHI $250K--we could prioritize, but i feel pv school in the price range we can afford is not worth it. kids are compet and nyc schools can be good if they excel. frm teacher, value public school for diversity and teaching tolerance. [ Reply | More ]
