just got the word that my sister is converting and marrying a Mormon man. I think I'm going to freak out in a bit. We are Jewish, BTW. She has been dating him for about a year, but she never mentioned that this would have to happen. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It will take place in the temple where only Mormons in good standing can enter. They will have some sort of ceremony after for the rest of us, but they will officially be married without anyone from her side of the family present. [ Reply | More

you have to get married within any Mormon temple - not only the one in SLC - but that "seals" for time and all eternity as a family. That is also why they want to baptize people who were never baptized (or even Christian apparently). It's all for the "after" [ Reply | More
