Ahh! You can tell that private school application season is about to start. It is hard to say if the public or the private moms are better than the others. They definitely talk about different issues, though. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

No they don't its all the same. Public moms want to believe G&T is a step above gen ed and that Hunter and Anderson are the TT of the public world. No different than the private school swine [ Reply | More ]

You mean there are parents in NYC who know about the public schools and don't think Hunter and Anderson are the TT? (My son goes to NEST if it matters.) [ Reply | More ]

No idea what all the public moms think I do know that TT private moms think A is awful and H is just a decent public. [ Reply | More ]

why would TT private moms have any opinion? And if they did what is it worth? [ Reply | More ]

Maybe, who knows, but my point is everyone in their little corner of the world compete, create hierarchies and label 'good' better' 'best' and 'worst' for almost everything. [ Reply | More ]

I'm relieved that there is no more talk of Anderson for a while. Or LL moms vs NEST moms. Ps9G&T moms sobbing over not getting Anderson. It's kinda nice. [ Reply | More ]

its an obsession with fairness, and then the entitlement comes from that. sort of like expecting Uncle Sam to take care of you, and revolting if your check is late. Its different than regular entitlement. [ Reply | More ]

WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE? “…getting education for free…” “…entitlement… expecting Uncle Sam to take care of you…” Where are you from? How did you develop such a warped perception of the world, let alone the public school system? Public schools are funded with tax dollars. Taxes I’ve been paying for the past 18 yrs & taxes that I will continue to pay long after my now 10-month old daughter has graduated high school. A 12-year education where she will have the opportunity to interact with kids from all different backgrounds with all different abilities. And when she graduates she’ll be able to interact with the people around her. Unlike you. [ Reply | More ]

The private application process seems a little hands on. I like the thought that a they look at the parents, the girl boy ratio, interviews, etc. rather than one test score on one day. [ Reply | More ]

It is truly frightening that the the G&T applications process has made NYC private school admissions seem almost rational. [ Reply | More ]

ditto. they really make an attempt to assess the whole child and create a balanced class. the public process is so arbitrary and random. [ Reply | More ]

It's the public moms who can afford private and are obsessed with "giftedness" that are the worst. I especially hate the ones who equate "giftedness" with special needs. [ Reply | More ]

If your child were really "gifted", you'd understand this. Be grateful your child is bright instead. It's an easier road. [ Reply | More ]

Hey, I have an idea. How about we just stop this ridiculous comparison ("who is more annoying?")?? So sick of it! I would actually rather debate SAHM vs WOHM than read another useless thread about which moms are worse, public or private. [ Reply | More ]

in both the private and public process there are normal people who are sane about it, normal people who become a bit crazed because of the process (this is the majority), and then people who are just crazed and competitive about school stuff in general. but those categories aren't determined by public vs private. neither private or public mom are any worse or better than the other.
