how many times a day do you feed your ebf 5 month old? ds seems to be moving towards 4 feeds a day, but that seems so few... [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I am *still* feeding him 7-8 times a day. He eats at most once between 8:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m., but the other 14 hours he's on every 2-3 hours. Now I am starting to wonder if that's unusual. He is just beginning solids (taking maybe two tablespoons a day). [ Reply | More ]

very likely he can go 3 (even 3.5 depending on the time of day) hours at that age. just start pushing the feeding that is 2 hours to 2 hours 15 minutes for a few days, then 2 hours 30 minutes. Eventually you should be able to get all feedings to no less than every 3 hours. 7-8 is great at the beginning, but by now it is not necessary & absolutely exhausting (my night nurse pointed me in the right direction on this, & I am so grateful).
