Off College admissions from privates post: Other OP stated that at her school the college counselor was or was almost fired because of poor admissions results. I think this is reason number one why these schools still want legacy families filling the classes. Legacy families are more trusting and understanding of the school and have more faith in their direction. WDYT? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Actually I don't think that's true. Legacy families still expect the same performance they got some 30 years ago, and it is much harder to make it happen now. Even the legacies don't often get in any more. [ Reply | More

Are we talking about for college or for entrance to private? In my HS class a thousand years ago three girls with stellar credentials and two with HYP legacies were rejected. It happens, nothing new here this year. [ Reply | More

^^^we had plenty of kids that did not get their first choice but almost everyone seemed to get one of the schools they wanted. Can't remember anyone who just got into their one safety school, which seems to happen quite a bit these days. [ Reply | More

Each rejected from the legacy schools their father/mother went to. High scoring top of class girls. The other one without a legacy connection also rejected and she was arguably the best student in the grade. [ Reply | More
