Question for next year: if my daughter scores above 97 on the OLSAT test does she have the right to apply/rank: (i) the 3 citywide schools in Manhattan, or (ii) any G&T schools in Brooklyn or (iii) only our local district G&T schools? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I wouldn't count on this year's rules applying to next year. 10 bucks says the DoE changes the rules again. [ Reply | More ]

You have better luck at the roulette tables in atlantic city than getting your child into a good citywide - even with a perfect 99. [ Reply | More ]

Under this year's rules, you would be able to apply for citywide and any G&T program in your District. However, this year no 97s got citywide unless they were a sibling of an existing student. [ Reply | More ]

^^^ Actually, I don't know if any 97s got into TAG. It's possible but I doubt it. [ Reply | More ]

this year you would have been able to rank all three citywides (but probably not gotten into any of them) and any g&t in your district. not all g&ts in brooklyn. but it will no doubt change. [ Reply | More ]

brooklyn parent here with 99 child; our list included 3 citywide, plus 3 or 4 in district - we could pick 3, ranking 1st-3rd choice. [ Reply | More ]

what do you mean you could only pick three? was that this year? If you cannot rank all of them how could the DOE guarantee your child a spot? [ Reply | More ]

We were supposed to rank 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice - I don't think we were supposed to rank every school listed (if so, I misread instructions...) [ Reply | More ]

Got 1st choice regardless. We would have gone to zoned school if hadn't gotten into top 3. [ Reply | More ]

unless your dd scores 99, you don't really have a shot at Anderson or NEST as a non sib. Plus, even if your dd has 99, it's still a slim chance since there are hundreds of 99ers. [ Reply | More ]
