I need to buy a birthday present for a "profoundly gifted" 7 yo boy. This kid is already reading 300-page books, I have NO idea what to get him. Please help! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I did not say my 7 yo was "profoundly gifted" . I said it liked reading Harry Potter - do you have or know any 1st graders? Most start reading that series then, in fact it was my oldest dd's teacher who recommended it 9 yrs ago so clearly you are a bit behind the times. [ Reply | More ]

why are you rolling your eyes? My 7 yo dd is still reading "Henry & Mudge" books. She's nowhere near HP books, but my friend's son is. So I do need recommendations for that reading level. [ Reply | More ]

yes. He's read every HP book already. Any other good books for boys of that level? I'm an only child, and my only reading-age child is a girl... I have no idea what little boys read! [ Reply | More ]

you should ask at a knowledgable book store -- my 8 yo dd is very advanced reader but I have trouble finding things that are her level but still appropriate. might be a bigger issue for girls. but I would think tom sawyer, huck finn, robinson crusoe, etc. would be good. [ Reply | More ]
