I'm having a hard time at the prospect of sending my kids to my mom's house (900 miles away) for the summer, but I think I have to. I have very limited money, so can't afford camp for two 7yos and can't afford a FT nanny for them while I work. This week, I'm going to have to do a split of bringing them to work and working from home. I wish I could magically come up with $8K to send them to camp for the summer. Agh [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Nothing at ALL. Except that I won't get to spend time with them after work for 8 weeks, which is depressing as hell. Single mom. OTOH, I guess I could use the time to go out and meet people. Still depressing as hell [ Reply | More

that sucks. i'm really sorry. it doesn't help you, but at least the kids will be having a blast. I used to spend summers with my gramma (i had a single mom) and those are some of my favorite memories. [ Reply | More

I know. I can't even imagine. Try to use the time to yourself as a gift -- read the books you haven't had a chance to read, take care of yourself, exercise. like you said, meet people. it could be really good for you in some ways! [ Reply | More
