How can I be more assertive/take charge of my life? I basically had a job that was easy, that I disliked, for 4 years... and instead of doing something about it 2 years ago (i.e. admitting it wasn't the right thing, talking to my boss about it, possibly trying to move w/in the firm, etc.), I just waited and let my performance deteriorate to the point where now I'm for all intents and purposes going to get asked to leave. I'm really disappointed in myself, and obviously have learned a lesson the hard way... but how can I pick myself up and move on, esp. in this job market? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

This is an interesting post for a lot of reasons. The reason you did not do anything was because you didn't have to. You were unchallenged and the work was easy - not a lot of people would bail on a job like that. Can you salvage the situation or are you sure you are out? [ Reply | More ]

The way she put it is that I am on probation for 30 days and can buy more time if I completely kill it the next month. But basically I am done on that team and probably at the firm. She said like 5 times during our meeting that she thinks I really need to start looking for another job at a new firm. [ Reply | More ]
