the public are better than the Catholic up there. Most towns have excellent schools, so the Catholic schools aren't utilized well [ Reply | More ]

ITA. My friend told me a story about DS's teacher at a well-regarded Westchester private school correcting Ds's correct spelling of "excellence" as "exsellense". all this for $25K a year. [ Reply | More ]

I have heard that Harrison HS is not great. I was thinking of starting in Catholic or private in elementary so ds is used to that track. We were thinking of Regis/Fordham/Iona or Rye Country Day and trying to figure out what would be elementary start. [ Reply | More ]

I see... for the Regis route, you definitely need to do Catholic schools to assure the best chances. Not sure about Fordham and Iona's selectivity. I know lots who send DCs to Rye Ctry Day with mixed results (but may be because they're expectation are so high). [ Reply | More ]

np--Isn't Regis admissions based on a test (and a baptismal certificate)? How would a Catholic school help with that? [ Reply | More ]

I don't remember the name, but there is a boys school in greenwich on King street that is good. You are right that the HS in Harrison isn't very good. [ Reply | More ]
