the attrition at out zoned public is 10% annually - mostly parents fed-up with class size, noise, and quality of academics....but from these fussy parents no-one was able to place DC in good private [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Did you go to a TT private? Because your post is incomprehensible. [ Reply | More ]

every year 10% of the class leaves - is that a difficult concept for you? [ Reply | More ]

Ah, your typo threw me. "Our" zoned public. But the rest I can't quite figure. Is English your second language? [ Reply | More ]

The parents who pulled their DCs out kept complaining that our public is not good enough for their DCs. They all applied to strong privates, but failed. Many of them were forced to move to NJ, some had DCs accepted at bottom-tier privates. Every year 10-15% of the parents attempt to find alternative placement for their DCs. Is that better? ^^^the 3 biggest complaints are: 1) class size, 2) noise, 3) curriculum [ Reply | More ]

Yes, clearer. But what is your point? Even if your kid was an extremely well-behaved genius, it would be difficult to get into a TT private after kindergarten, no? [ Reply | More ]

The point is how many parents are quick to complain that a school is "not good enough" for their DC [ Reply | More ]

Right, and they found better situations. They consider even the "bottom-tier" privates to be better. [ Reply | More ]

OP: Yes they do. The parents I know that went to Trevor and Dwight claim to be much happier (fewer bullies, less noise, better tailored teaching) [ Reply | More ]

Not surprising. In my experience, it's typically the parents of kids who have issues that complain and apply out, so not surprising that they don't get good private spots, which are hard for even high-performing, well-behaved kids to get post-K. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know what public you're talking about, or if you'll say, but I know for certain that some kids do get into the most competitive privates from public school in off years. Maybe it doesn't happen often, but I can vouch that it happens. [ Reply | More ]

that sounds awesome for the kids who stick it out -- sounds like upper grades thin out nicely and must have some very reasonable class sizes. [ Reply | More ]

The DOE generally doesn't let that happen and will dump kids in the school. [ Reply | More ]

Upper grade classroom sizes are often huge at popular schools--35 kids or so--because schools consolidate. [ Reply | More ]
