Stupid question, I'm sure but ... if a newly sober alcoholic takes a quick (and little) sip of some beer but then admits it to everyone who knows her struggle, does she have to start "counting days" again? (AA lingo for "starting from the get-go and not claiming sobriety anymore") ??? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

OP: thanks, that's what I figured ... my friend (the alcoholic) doesn't see it that way, I'm afraid. She thinks it's ok because A) it was a small sip and B) she told everyone who would listen seconds after taking said sip. [ Reply | More ]

Why are you guys all putting her in the situation where she'll be tempted like this? [ Reply | More ]

The point is that she couldn't resist the sip. She must start over. She must also not put herself in situations that involve beer/alcoholic bevs [ Reply | More ]
