Most preschools have differents hours than elementary schools (e.g., 9-2, vs. 8:30 to 3:00), so that should be OK. Regarding the K and 4th graders the question is why are they in diff. schools and is one much better than the other?? In theory you can handle 1 kid and DH/nanny the other [ Reply | More ]

I think I responded on your other post (I had 2 in 2 different schools plus a baby). I'm a sahm and had 2 part time nannies/sitters so I basically had coverage from 8 am til 6/7 pm. The baby stayed home in the morning with the nanny while I took 1st grader and preschooler to school (preschooler was about 5-10 mins late to school every day all year, but the first half hour was free time). I had from about 10-1 free to run errands, appointments, gym, very pt job etc). Then I'd relieve sitter 1 and take baby from her. Sitter 2 usually picked up preschooler and I'd take baby with me to pick up gradeschooler. I don't see how you can do it unless you hire help (unless you and dh have extremely flexible schedules)...my dh could never help with it [ Reply | More ]

ITA that preschool will have different hours. And some elementary schools allow you to drop off early. Picking up might be the big problem. [ Reply | More ]

so how did you do the 3 pick ups in 3 places when they were all in preschool/elem? By MS and HS they can go alone [ Reply | More ]

I did 7:30 middle school drop off followed by 8:05 elem drop off (we waited 10 min there until time to go in) back home until 9:00 preschool drop off [ Reply | More ]

in the morning, one takes one, other takes other with preschooler. Preschool goes to older sibs school first to drop off sib then goes on to his school. Then K and 4th grader will have to do afterschool on alternating days [ Reply | More ]

OP: thanks. I'm pretty sure it will work out. 4th grader is at zoned school, K at NEST. DH and I can split these drop offs in the am and preschooler is in an afternoon class. The pick up is a bit worrisome -- three schools, within 15 minutes of each other and they are not close. I'm most worried about juggling three different sets of parents/friends/activities/ volunteering/ playdates/ field trips/ etc. I guess it's part of what we signed on for with 3 kids! [ Reply | More ]

I have a K and 4th grader at different schools and this year I tried to stagger their afterschool classes on so they were on different days. That helped alot. DH helps in the a.m. but I'm alone in the afternoon. [ Reply | More ]

How did that happen with K and 4th grade? Why isn't DC #2 at school with #1? [ Reply | More ]

we moved to the city too late for #1 to get into G&T (she's qualified each year, but no available seats). #2 is going to NEST. [ Reply | More ]
