what are the advantages and disadvantages of a destination wedding? my fiance and i were thinking bermuda, but i am so torn bc i would hate to make people travel so far and i would hate for any close friends or family to miss the wedding, but i would just love a laidback wedding on a beach that i love [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

that is what i worry - we were thinking we could get there via cruiseship since flying is expensive and then he and i would stay there for our honeymoon, and perhaps we would even try and chip in on cost for guests [ Reply | More

It depends on your family/friends situation. I got married in my hometown and my mother and grandmother were the only people who did not have to travel for the wedding. So had I chosen a destination wedding, there would have been little difference. [ Reply | More

But what would be the difference? 99% of the guests at my wedding traveled to NYC for my wedding. Would it have been so different for them to have traveled to Bermuda? They still would have had travel costs, hotel costs, etc. [ Reply | More

we did it - you have to go in it with the attitude of "we really want you to come, but it's totally understandable if you don't. expect few guests and even fewer gifts. we worked with a travel agent and got a group fair for the flights and hotel. we had a decent turnout - about 50 [ Reply | More
