It's supposed to be so hot in the City tomorrow. Is it worth it to schlep to the Rockaway Beach? Never been there. Which stop should I get at? How far from the subway to the actual beach? Thanks!!! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

rockaway is just as nice as long beach, if you walk a few blocks up from the subway (subway goes to 116th, walk up a few blocks toward the 120s. Plus it's free. LB is $10. However, the LIRR is of course nicer than the a train. [ Reply | More

i haven't done the trip in awhile. does the a train run express on the weekends? If so, I'd say 45 minutes. I believe you have to transfer to the S in Broad Channel. Not the best ride, but Rockaway is a nice beach and pretty empty once you get a few blocks up from the masses of the subway stop. [ Reply | More
