Money/banking types: Question regarding credit card APRs. Both dh and I have excellent credit. For the first time in our lives, we may have to carry a balance on our cards for a few months. What is a reasonable APR to pay? Want to ask for a reduction in rate. Have never paid any attention before because I've never carried a balance. tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

excellent credit, we always have a small balance but pay it religiously, don't think we started with this balance. try bankrate.com, or something like that. maybe do a google search. there are websites that show different credit card rates. but read the fine print. [ Reply | More ]

We're in the same situation. Had to transfer an AmEx balance to a CC. I called last night and got 2.99%. [ Reply | More ]

Go for a "special offer" read the terms carefully, I got zero for a full year, no balance transfer costs, no annual fee... now if I could just make a little more and pay off those taxes! Basically, don't you get credit card offers in the mail that you normally throw away? Start actually reading them, some might be good deals. [ Reply | More ]

call your credit card and tell them you think since you have been a customer for a long time, you want a better deal. Sound slightly bitchy. They might give you a better rate temporarily. [ Reply | More ]
